There are many things that can be dangerous for dogs to eat, so it is no surprise that the rumour that blueberries are bad for dogs had spread. Luckily the stories of dogs getting ill from eating blueberries are greatly exaggerated in the majority of cases.

In short, blueberries are not dangerous for dogs if eaten in moderation. If your dog decides to eat some blueberries while out on a walk in the woods there is no reason to panic as it is extremely unlikely to do him any harm. In large quantities blueberries can give your dog diarrhea, but hed have to eat a lot of them. In the vast majority of cases blueberries are safe for dogs to eat.

If you do think your dog has eaten too much of any substance then its best to take him to the vet as soon as possible. In most cases there is nothing to worry about, but it is always a good idea to get professional medical advice just to be on the safe side.

Some foods arent safe for your dog to eat though even in small amounts. These can cause many different symptoms with varying severity - including death in the most extreme cases. To be on the safe side you should never feed your dog something unless you are 100% sure it is safe to do so.

Some of the foods that are dangerous for your dog to eat include alcohol, chocolate, tea and coffee. There are many more dangerous foods though so you need to be careful about what you feed a dog.
