There are many types of dog dominance behavior and some dog owners do not even realize that some of their dogs behaviors are categorized as dominant-type.

How do we know if certain behavior is dominant-type? Good question. I will be listing down some types of dominance aggression behavior in this page.

Lets understand how the role of the dog dominance plays as part of survival in the wild. The dog which is able to dominant over all of the dogs in the pack is selected as the pack leader. The pack leader is the alpha dog that leads the whole pack of dogs from one location to another. The alpha dog is also the first dog that gets to eat the food they have just hunted. Pack leader has his/her own special place in their den and every other dogs usually sleep together in group. Pack leader is also the one who decides if any new dogs can join their pack or chases away existing dog that wants to dominant over him/her.

After you understand how dog dominance play in the wild, you may compare them if any of the similar behaviors occur in your house. If there is, your dog is trying to dominant over you and tries to become the pack leader. You should stop his negative behavior before it creates more serious dog behavior problems in future.

As a pack leader, you should do the following things:-

Pack leader should teach the dog how to behave in front of people.
Pack leader should set rules and limitations in the house.
